Tajikistan's Somon Air has suspended a number of Russian routes in a deepening political spat between the two sides.

Somon Air says it suspended the services following notification of a ban from Russian federal air transport regulator Rosaviatsia on 31 March.

The two sides have been immersed in a diplomatic row after the Tajik authorities failed to confirm permission for Ural Airlines to operate specific services to Tajikistan.

Somon Air says the reciprocal ban also affects Tajik Air.

It states that affected routes include those from Dushanbe and Khujand to such cities as Ekaterinburg, Kazan, and St Petersburg. Permits for the Khujand-Moscow are also set to expire this month.

Several routes – including Dushanbe-Moscow – will still be conducted according to the airline's timetable, says Somon.
