Airbus has revealed an order for 40 A330neo jets was placed in the last month of 2019, helping to lift the re-engined type’s net total for the year.

The order, placed on 23 December, is attributed to an unidentified customer.

Airbus’s full-year backlog data shows that the agreement is for 40 of the larger A330-900 variant.

The aircraft type is exclusively powered by the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engine.

Gross orders for the A330neo last year reached 104 aircraft including 98 of the -900. Net orders amounted to 99.

Air France and lessor Nordic Aviation Capital firmed their orders for a total of 80 A220s during December.

United Airlines also sealed an agreement for 50 A321neos, while the December activity was rounded off by a single A319neo order from a private customer.
