Northwest Airlines pilots union leaders ousted their chairman Mark McClain, weeks after the 5,000 members of the Air Line Pilots Association at the bankrupt carrier voted to accept a “deeply concessionary” five-and-a-half year contract entailing pay cuts of 24% and work rule changes. McClain had overcome a 1 April recall vote.
