Northwest Airlines has agreed with both Airbus Industrie and Boeing to accelerate deliveries of ten new A319/A320s and 757-200s to aid it in retiring older in-service aircraft.

The carrier says that with the new agreements Airbus will deliver three CFM International CFM56-powered A319s and two A320s between April and December next year while Boeing will deliver five Pratt & Whitney PW2037-powered 757s between June and October next year.

The A320-family aircraft were originally to have been delivered in 2002 while the 757s were to have been delivered in 2004.
