Olympic Airways is to utilise Jeppesen's (Stand E325) e-Link airline portal to deliver electronic charts.
In the deal to be announced today, Olympic has become one of a growing list of airlines and operators to use the airline portal to access Jeppesen charts and data at any time.
As part of the deal, Jeppesen will convert Olympic's full suite of Jeppesen produced navigational products to electronic format. They will then be delivered via the customised e-Link airline portal. Security is maintained through use of unique passwords and usernames.
The e-Link will initially be used on Olympic's ground-based operations such as training and dispatch but will ultimately serve as a conduit for Jeppesen to deliver electronic navigational charts throughout Olympic's operation.
The system will also result in substantial savings for Olympic due to significant reductions in the volume of paper used.
"The e-Link concept is really catching on as Olympic becomes the latest major operator to sign up for the system," says Thomas Wede, vice-president, Commercial Aviation Services.
"Thanks to the e-Link airline portal, Jeppesen is able to deliver flight-critical information anytime, anywhere while our customers realise substantial cost savings."
