European Aviation Air Charter has confirmed a contract with Quiet Nacelle Corporation of Miami for the American company to develop a stage 3 hush kit suitable for its fleet, currently powered by Rolls Royce Spey engines complying with the stage two criteria.
The kit will comprise an engine nacelle extension, replacing the existing unit. After initial tests and inspection, the new module will be fitted to a non-certificated aircraft at Bournemouth and test flown for an anticipated 40 hours to confirm noise levels, emissions and performance.
The airline is also developing a cockpit upgrade to include state-of-the-art avionics, while a major cabin re-furbishment programme is nearly complete.
Under the contract with Quiet Nacelle, European Aviation Maintenance Ltd., will undertake installation of all BAC 1-ll hush kits world-wide. Initially the plan is to certificate 500-series aircraft, but depending on certification and volumes, the kit could be made available for earlier examples.
