Avionics manufacturer Rockwell Collins’s bold move in 2003 to acquire simulator developer NLX has paid off with a potential $100 million deal to supply the integrated cockpit, helmet-mounted display, communications systems and two full-flight simulators for the Sikorsky MH-92 maritime helicopter under development for the Canadian Forces, which has ordered 28 aircraft to be designated as CH-148 Cyclones. Collins says it will integrate simulation hooks into the avionics to maintain currency between the aircraft and simulators.
