Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) will provide Thai Airways International component MRO support for its future fleet of Airbus A350-900s.

The deal will see Thai gaining access to AFI-KLM E&M's global pool of A350 components, maintenance, logistics, and a comprehensive material support at the carrier's main base in Bangkok, says the MRO company.

Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that Thai has 12 A350-900s on order, with options for four more units. Two aircraft will arrive later this year.

“The awarded contract is a sign of potential for competencies as AFI KLM E&M stepped up to the plate to meet the requirements of Thai for the entire array of A350 maintenance services. The continuity of services as chosen by Thai Airways has even demonstrated the ability of AFI KLM E&M to offer both very competitive prices and the usual high service quality that is a credit to its reputation as an MRO,” says Chalermpon Intarawong, executive vice-president of Thai Technical.

AFI KLM E&M won a similar contract in 2015 for the eight Boeing 787s ordered by Thai. Fleets Analyzer indicates that six are currently in service.
