Air Canada has placed orders for eight Airbus A350-1000s, becoming the type’s newest customer.

The deal, announced 11 February, will see the Star Alliance operator take options for another eight aircraft. Deliveries will begin in the second half of 2030.

Air Canada orders eight A350-1000s

The orders were listed as undisclosed in November 2025, according to Airbus.

Air Canada, which does not disclose the value of the order, says the A350s will come with its “new cabin standard”, which it will reveal later this year.

Air Canada commercial chief Mark Galardo states says the new aircraft “complement our existing fleet by providing flexibility in support of a growing, resilient, and diversified future network”.

Galardo adds: “The Airbus A350-1000 will play a central role in defining Air Canada’s next era, connecting our customers, our hubs, and our country to the world.”

The new A350s are part of a wider fleet modernisation exercise, and will likely replace Air Canada’s existing widebody long-haul fleet made up of Boeing 777s.

Air Canada will in 2026 take delivery of its first A321XLR, as well as the first of 14 787-10s. The airline will also continue taking delivery of A220 and 737 Max aircraft.
