Following its exit from bankruptcy court protection, Dr David Bronner, the chief executive officer of Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA), has been elected as chairman of the US Airways 15-member board. Alabama's state pension fund is the lead financier of the carrier's reorganisation, providing $500 million.
Bronner will chair the board in a non-executive capacity, with president and chief executive David Siegel continuing to manage day-to-day airline operations.
In other news at US Airways, the airline has named Bruce Ashby as president of its 10-carrier US Airways Express Division. He adds the position to his current role as senior vice-president of alliances.
