Cebu Pacific has finalised its lease with Pegasus Aviation for two Boeing 757-200s powered by Rolls- Royce RB211-535 engines for use on the Philippine domestic carrier's first international services expected to start this October.
The airline has not revealed its international destinations or when services will start. Three points will initially be served, with Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan the most likely choices. The first aircraft will arrive in the third week of October and the second will arrive in November. There is also an option for a third aircraft.
Asian destinations are just the beginning of Cebu's international ambitions as its sights are also set on the US West Coast where more than a million Filipinos live.
Since 1997 Cebu has grown to serve 10 destinations around the Philippines from its Manila hub with a fleet of 12 McDonnell Douglas DC-9-32s.
