Airbus Deutschland has completed structural assembly of the first A380 Section 13 fuselage barrel, forming the first full cross-section fuselage section for the ultra-large aircraft. The forward fuselage section, which measures 8.4m (27.5ft) high by 7.1m wide, was assembled at Airbus's Finkenwerder, Hamburg, facility in Germany. It will now undergo systems installation before transfer by ship to Airbus France's St Nazaire plant, where the nose section will be attached. Assembly of the first centre wing box and lower centre fuselage section is being completed at St Nazaire, which is responsible for production of the entire centre fuselage subassembly.
