Boeing is planning to sell its Information Services subsidiary, a provider of information and systems integration services to the US Government. The Seattle giant says it expects to announce a buyer for the Virginia-based business later this quarter. Sweden's Saab group is to acquire Nyge Aero, a military and commercial aircraft and helicopter maintenance and modification business owned by equity fund Industri Kapital. The operation has bases in Sweden and Norway. Kelly Aerospace's Consolidated Fuel Systems subsidiary has bought the aircraft turbocharger valve and controls product line of AlliedSignal's turbocharging systems division, and will market it alongside RAJAY, acquired from AlliedSignal in 1997. An investment fund managed by New York merchant bank Castle Harlan has completed the acquisition of ground handling provider AMR Services, a sister company of American Airlines, and renamed it Worldwide Flight Services. US maintenance and parts provider American Aircarriers Support has acquired flight control services maintenance, repair and overhaul specialist Complete Controls. Avionics specialist Rockwell Collins has completed its 100% purchase of head-up guidance systems manufacturer Flight Dynamics. Lufthansa's Frankfurt-based information technology unit has bought an unspecified stake in US aviation management consultancy SH&E (Simat, Helliesen & Eichner), giving it an improved presence in North America. US express freight specialist UPS is purchasing Shannon MRO, an Aer Lingus aircraft overhaul operation, for an undisclosed sum. The unit already derives 90% of its business from the US carrier's international subsidiary. Aer Lingus has already sold TEAM, its primary overhaul venture. US electronic manufacturing services business EFTC has closed the first phase of its acquisition of Honeywell's Commercial Avionics Systems division.
