Morocco's airport authority, Office National des Aeroports, has commissioned its new airspace and air traffic control system, providing the country with CNS/ATM (communications, navigation, surveillance/ air traffic management) capabilities.
Part of a national upgrade of the country's air traffic control infrastructure, the new system will enable Morocco to handle automatic dependent surveillance (ADS) and controller-pilot datalink communications (CPDLC) applications.
Four radar installations provide surveillance coverage across the country. An ASR-9 airport surveillance radar and co-mounted monopulse secondary surveillance radar (MSSR) are located near Casablanca, at Mohamed V International Airport. Three additional MSSRs - each with a range of 240nm (440km) - have been installed at Agadir, Ifrane and Safi.
