Aer Lingus is to the open a new service to Miami from Dublin next year.

The Irish flag carrier says the new route will operate three times a week from 1 September. This will be the carrier's 11 North American route from Dublin.

Aer Lingus says it will operate its largest transatlantic schedule ever in 2017, with the 2.5 million seats deployed into the market representing a rise in capacity of a fifth since last year. In addition to the Miami route, that includes extra frequencies will be added on existing routes from Dublin to Los Angeles, Chicago and Orlando which "come on the foot of a year of growth as part of IAG" says Aer Lingus.

In addition, the Dublin-based carrier is adding new European services to Split and Porto next year.
