American Airlines has directly connected with global wholesale travel provider Tourico Holidays, as its anti-trust lawsuit against global distribution system Sabre continues.

The technology platform allows Tourico direct access to the Fort Worth, Texas-based airline's fares, schedules and other products. It began implementing the connection in February.

"American's direct connect technology will allow Tourico Holidays to offer our customers the latest in exclusive travel innovations," says Jason Soss, president of global business development at Tourico.

American is in the midst of a legal battle with Sabre to force the GDS to implement improved technology that would allow the sale of additional merchandising and other opportunities. Sabre claims that the technology would allow the travel agents to bypass its systems. Arguments begin on 3 October.
