Eurocopter has secured a repeat order to deliver a second batch of six EC725 transport helicopters to the Mexican armed forces.

Confirmed earlier this month, the deal takes to 12 the number of EC725s to be delivered to the nation. The first should be handed over in the second quarter of 2011, Eurocopter says.

With a maximum take-off weight of over 11t, the EC725 is a combat search and rescue-optimised development of Eurocopter’s proven Cougar transport helicopter. The new version is already flown by the French air force and army – the latter of which operates the model in Afghanistan – and by the Chilean army, says Flightglobal’s HeliCAS database.
