Mike Clasper has been appointed chief executive of BAA, which runs airports including London Heathrow and Gatwick. He joins in July from Procter and Gamble. Continental Airlines president and chief operating office Greg Brenneman has resigned to return to his private equity firm TurnWorks. Continental chairman and CEO Gordon Bethune says he expects chief financial officer Larry Kellner to be appointed president, and vice president operations C D McLean to become COO at a board meeting this week. Boeing has appointed Michael Bair executive VP of the Commercial Aviation Services unit of in its Commercial Airplanes Group. America West Airlines says its chairman and chief executive William Franke will retire at the end of 2002, at the age of 65, rather than seek another term. President Doug Parker is widely tipped to take over. Peter Grasek has resigned as president of Solvenian flag-carrier Adria Airways in order to head up telecoms group Telekom Slovenije. Branko Lucovnik takes over as acting president for at least six months. Vanguard Airlines president Jeff Potter has left the loss-making Kansas City-based carrier, to be replaced by Scott Dickson, VP planning and revenue with El Salvador-based Grupo TACA and a former Frontier VP. Davy Ho Cho Yin, an executive director with Swire Group, has succeeded Cathay Pacific and Swire chairman James Hughes-Hallett as chairman of Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals (Hactl). Airline/supplier e-business marketplace Cordiem has named David Linton as its CEO. Linton, previously general manager of Hamilton Sundstrand's electric systems business, takes over this week. Sun Country Airlines, which relaunches this month, has appointed David Banmiller president and COO. Former president Bill La Macchia continues as CEO.
