Yangon to Macao
Myanmar Airways International has started operating charter services to Macau from Yangon using a leased Boeing 737-400. Macau airport operator CAM says the service began on 27 November and approvals have been secured for 10 flights through to next February.
ANA expands to Honolulu
All Nippon Airways (ANA) plans to operate Osaka-Honolulu services and has applied to Japan's transport ministry to start in the summer using Boeing 767-300ERs. ANA operates Tokyo-Honolulu four times weekly and daily between Nagoya and Honolulu.
Ansett cuts out Taiwan
Australia's Ansett is to suspend services to Taiwan early this year because of declining yields and "considerable losses" on flights from Sydney. Its code-share partner, EVA Airways, will operate services on the route from 1 January.
Taiwan adds in Pacific …
Taiwan and the Pacific island state of Palau have signed an air services agreement for four flights a week by airlines from both sides. Taiwan's Far Eastern Air Transport already operates two weekly flights to Palau.
… and puts cargo to India
China Airlines has launched the first dedicated cargo service between Taipei and New Delhi. The weekly service began on 20 November, operating as a Taipei-New Delhi-Abu Dhabi-Luxembourg routing. Return flights are operated as Luxembourg-Abu Dhabi-Bangkok-Taipei.
