US Airways will begin non-stop Airbus A320 services to Aruba in the Caribbean from Charlotte, North Carolina, on 10 November, starting with two weekend flights and rising to daily on 12 January, 2002. Qatar Airways will launch three times weekly services from its Doha hub to Male, the Maldives and Kuala Lumpar from December. Delta Air Lines is to offer nonstop weekly services between Washington DC Reagan and Nassau, Bahamas from July. Transavia will introduce its Basiq Air "no-frills" brand on services from Amsterdam and Rotterdam to Malaga, Spain. Atlantic Coast Airlines will add services in August from Washington Dulles to Cincinnati, and from Chicago to Grand Rapids in Michigan, Cleveland, Ohio and Syracuse, New York. Cincinnati will be served four times daily, while the others will receive once daily links. Israeli flag-carrier El Al is to terminate services to seven destinations - Manchester, UK; Simferopol and Dnipropetrovsk in the Ukraine; Copenhagen, Denmark; St Petersburg, Russia; Kenyan capital Nairobi; and Minsk, Belarus. Continental Express has launched four-times daily New York-Washington National services. Pegasus Airways will introduce summer charters between Norwich, UK, and Dalaman,Turkey, next May. US freight airline Polar Air Cargo has cut by half its services to Hong Kong and Australia due to the downturn in the economy. Hong Kong services drop to three times weekly, while Sydney and Melbourne services each fall to once weekly. Air Canada is introducing Cincinnati-Toronto services, six times weekly from June, becoming daily in July. Air 2000 will introduce a weekly Boeing 767-300 charter service from East Midlands airport to Orlando, Florida, next summer. Liverpool-based Emerald Airways is to operate a new freight contract between Coventry and Eindhoven, Netherlands, as it works to develop Coventry as its second base.
