Australian Helicopters has won a seven-year A$52 million ($40 million) contract to operate the Adelaide Bank Rescue Helicopter Service in South Australia. The company, Australia's largest locally owned helicopter operator with 23 helicopters, already conducts rescue services for Queensland and is part of the federal government's Coastwatch programme. Under the South Australia contract, it will provide three helicopters – a Bell 412, Eurocopter BK117 and EC130 B4 – for medical transfer, rescue, police patrols and firefighting.
