CAE is to produce a combat mission simulator for the Boeing MH-47G Chinook, to be used by US Army Special Operations Forces.
Under the $43 million contract, it will also begin the design of a similar device for the Sikorsky MH-60K Black Hawk.
The work follows on from CAE's $38 million contract win to build an MD Helicopters AH/MH-6 Little Bird CMS, which is scheduled for delivery to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment at Ft Campbell, Kentucky in May.
The new contract includes the CAE Medallion-S image generator and 220°-wide collimated display.
Upgraded
Delivery of the CMS to Ft Campbell will commence in early 2006. The regiment's existing MH-47E CMS will also be upgraded with the Medallion-S equipment.
The first MH-47G special operations helicopter is scheduled to be rolled out by Boeing in May and will share an upgraded cockpit by Rockwell Collins with the MH-6 and MH-60K Black 1.
The AH/MH-6 CMS will be ready for training use in September.
CAE says a contract to develop an open, common database architecture is expected to be signed later this year.
