CMC Electronics (Stand E902) has been selected by the Dubai Air Wing as avionics systems integrator for the L100-30 cockpit upgrade to the service's Lockheed Martin C-130.
CMC will team up with the Gulf Aircraft Maintenance (GAMCO) on the project by supplying its CMA-900 Flight Management System (FMS) as the core of the upgrade. GAMCO will be responsible for all programme depot maintenance inspection requirements, a new cargo handling system, aircraft painting and installation of cockpit upgrade systems.
The configuration comprises a multi-sensor system based on a fully integrated dual CMA-900 FMS which provides effectively 100% dispatch reliability worldwide. Navigation is seamless from takeoff to final approach. The upgrade will allow Dubai Air Wing's aircraft to meet all P-RNAV (precision area navigation) flight data recording and TAWS (terrain avoidance warning system) requirements.
"We have been involved in this kind of work for a long time now and we are very pleased to have been selected," says Bill Bailey, vice-president, Commercial Aviation. "Our main challenge is to ensure we understand exactly what Dubai Air Wing expects from us and selects our architecture carefully. However, GAMCO has a close relationship with them which will help us."
CMC is a regular exhibitor at the Dubai airshow and Bailey believes it is an important way of keeping the company's profile high.
"CMC has been active in this region for several years and we are always pleased to come and exhibit at the Dubai airshow," he says.
