Gulfstream is to retrofit Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 Continuum integrated avionics into a Bombardier Challenger 601 business jet. Work will be performed by the company's General Dynamics Aviation Services subsidiary.
The update includes four 255 x 205mm (10 x 8in), liquid-crystal primary flight and multifunction displays, dual flight management systems, dual flight control systems, dual digital attitude and heading reference systems, traffic and terrain avoidance systems.
The Challenger 601 is one of the first applications of the fully integrated Continuum, which is the retrofit version of Collins' latest Pro Line 21 avionics. The Challenger 600 and Gulfstream II, IIB and III, are already flying with 125 x 125mm flat-panel displays available under the Continuum banner.
Duncan Aviation, which certificated the Challenger 600 and Gulfstream display upgrades, is retrofitting the fully integrated Continuum, with large-format displays and other systems, into a Dassault Falcon 50. Garrett Aviation is working on a similar upgrade for the Falcon 20.
