Middle East carrier Emirates is to further increase services to India, as more Indian carriers are preparing to compete with flights to Dubai.

The Dubai-based carrier says in a statement that between July and October it will be introducing another 18 flights per week to destinations in India, lifting its total weekly services to the country to 132. No other foreign carrier operates as many services to India.

Emirates says the additional services will all be to existing destinations, specifically the IT hubs of Bangalore and Hyderabad as well as the capital New Delhi.

The additional services come as India’s Jet Airways is preparing to launch services to Dubai. Chairman Naresh Goyal said recently that he expects Jet will be operating between eight and 10 flights per day from several Indian cities. Air India Express also recently announced plans to increase services to Dubai.

In April India and the UAE agreed to allow many more flights between India and Dubai.
