Estonian Air has named Erki Urva as its new president, replacing Jorn Ericksen, who returns to the carrier's 49% shareholder Maersk Air. Urva has been the airline's vice-president commercial since 2000.

Craig Sinclair has been appointed chief information officer at Air New Zealand. He was formerly the chief executive of the country's AT Coperation Airways Corporation.

In a demonstration of its will to expand its US industrial presence, leading European aerospace company EADS has named Ralph Crosby as chairman of EADS North America. Most recently, he was president of Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems Sector.

Obituaries

George Batchelor, founder of Arrow Air and International Air Leases, and a well-known aviation world personality, has died at the age of 81 at his home in Miami.

DHL Airways chief executive Joe O'Gorman died on 10 August after a heart attack. O'Gorman, 59, had served in senior roles at many US carriers, and was responsible for selling Reno Air to AMR in late 1998. DHL's senior vice-president operations Vicki Bretthauer has been named interim chief executive.
