China Southern Airlines will be moving flights between Beijing and Ho Chi Minh City to Beijing Daxing Airport, as it gears up for operations at the new airport.

Cirium’s schedules data shows that China Southern flies daily between the Beijing Capital and Ho Chi Minh. Flights are currently operated with an Airbus A320.

Air China also operates a daily flight between the two cities.

Ho Chi Minh will be among the 13 points in its network that will be moved on 27 October, the start of its winter schedule. The other destinations are domestic points, such as Yinchuan, Jieyang and Yanji.

China Southern says in an update that operations to 11 of these points will be entirely moved over. Beijing-Changchun and Beijing-Yiwu will see operations split between Beijing Daxing, and Beijing Capital, it adds.

China Southern’s updates come as it completes work on its new base at Daxing Airport. It unveiled a new hangar that can accommodate up to 12 aircraft at the same time, among other new facilities.

FlightGlobal previously reported the airline saying that it expects to base 250 aircraft at Daxing Airport by 2025, more than three times the number it currently has at Beijing Capital.

The airline adds in its latest update that it aims to capture 40% of passenger traffic through Daxing Airport.
