Southwest Airlines will add frequencies to several markets out of Baltimore/Washington in the US summer travel season.

From 5 June to 6 August, the Dallas-based carrier will add an additional daily flight from Sunday to Friday to the following cities: Oakland, Denver, Manchester-Boston, Hartford, Tampa and Orlando.

On Saturdays, Southwest will add an additional daily flight to Hartford, Seattle, Orlando, Nashville and Tampa.

"This is about enhancing our breadth of service and adding convenience for our Baltimore-Washington-area customers as we seek to grow in the entire region,” says Andrew Watterson, senior vice-president network and revenue. “Collectively, Southwest offers more service from BWI, Reagan National, and Dulles Airports than any other airline.”

Southwest competes against United Airlines on Baltimore/Washington-Denver, against Spirit Airlines and JetBlue Airways to Orlando, and against Alaska Airlines to Seattle. It is the only airline operating on the remaining routes, schedules in Innovata show.
