SIA Engineering Co (SIAEC) and Panasonic Avionics have opened a facility for their joint venture Panasonic Avionics Services Singapore (PACSS) for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of Panasonic Avionics systems.

The facility, which is located in Singapore, will offer its services for in-flight entertainment and communications (IFEC) systems.

SIAEC owns 42.5% of the joint venture, while Panasonic Avionics owns 57.5%.

The partners will offer IFEC checks on aircraft during their transits at Changi Airport, among other system repair services.

SIAEC said that it does not expect the opening of the PACSS to have a material impact on its financial performance for the financial year 2011-2012.
