Sikorsky has sold two S-92 helicopters to Turkmenistan for presidential transport, the company announced at the show yesterday. The helicopters will be delivered in 2005/2006.
The $53 million deal was signed in Ashgabat by Turkmen president Saparmurat Niyazov, who praised the reliability and quality of Sikorsky helicopters, which have been a part of the country's aviation fleet since 1996.
"The S-92 is a natural fit for VIP presidential transport. It was designed from the outset to meet the most rigorous safety standards in the world," said Jeff Pino, Sikorsky vice-president of marketing and commercial programs.
The contract brings the total number of S-92 aircraft sold to 27. In addition to the confirmed sales, Sikorsky also has options and deposit agreements for 30 S-92s.
Other customers include Petroleum Helicopters, Norsk Helikopter of Norway, and Canada's CHC Corporation, plus several VIP customers.
