Former Continental Express president David Siegel has been appointed president and chief executive of US Airways, replacing Stephen Wolf, who becomes non-executive chairman. Wolf will gradually relinquish the day-to-day control he assumed in November when president and CEO Rakesh Gangwal resigned. Siegel oversaw a record regional jet order and introduction when Continental Express became the launch customer for the Embraer ERJ-135/145. At US Airways Siegel faces the challenge of reducing costs and securing an agreement with pilots over the introduction of regional jets.
