Sino Swearingen's SJ30-2 business jet has completed 100h of flight testing and is in the process of being fitted with Williams-Rolls FJ44-2 turbofans that will give the aircraft a cruise speed in excess of M0.8.

The SJ30-2, which is being marketed as a high-performance six-seat business jet, is expected to resume its flight test programme later this summer at Sino Swearingen's San Antonio, Texas, headquarters.

Campaign

The company has launched a new promotional campaign at Paris for the aircraft highlighting the aircraft speed, long legs and relatively low price tag of around $3.5 million. "We've just rewritten the price/value equation for light business jets," says Sino Swearingen president Jack Braly.

This particular prototype aircraft is actually a stretched version of the original SJ30-1. An all-new certification prototype is being built and will begin its flight test programme next year.

The wing and fuselage of the SJ30-2 are built by Gamesa of Spain, while the tail is provided by Crestview of Florida
