An intelligent airport operations and security system has been launched by Singapore Technologies Electronics (ST Elect). The electronics arm of publicly-listed Singapore Technologies Aerospace says the Integrated System for Airport Resource and Security (ISARS) meets the needs of modern airports, providing seamless communication for effective control of operations.

Made up of various independent sub-systems, ISARS provides a communication and security system which offers real-time information on activities in the airport, allowing airport operators to allocate resources, respond to crises and monitor events in the airport premises, surrounding areas and runways.

At the heart of ISARS is the Airport Resources and Activities Monitoring System (ARMS) that links all airport internal facilities and systems into one central command centre, allowing real-time monitoring and control of airport facilities, safety, security and airport systems. Cetrac, a video-based detection system, can be used to identify foreign objects or any unusual movements around classified areas of the airport and its runways. It allows the control tower to take measures against unauthorised entries as well as measures to prevent further or future similar violations.

The SuperneT Airport Communication System is an integrated communication system equipped with the latest wireless products and technologies which utilise BlueTooth.

ST Elect's Intelligent Building Management System (IBMS) can control internal environments or buildings to ensure the overall comfort level of people in the airport terminal, says ST Elect. IBMS comprises operation and maintenance management, tenant services management and property management.
