Boeing added 43 orders for commercial aircraft to its backlog in May to widen its strong lead over Airbus through the first five months of the year, according to a monthly update to the company’s online database.
Net orders for Boeing aircraft increased to 306 so far in 2018, the Boeing web site shows. New orders added in May include seven 787s from one or multiple unidentified customers. The tally also includes previously announced orders for six 787s from Qantas, two 777Fs from Lufthansa Cargo and two 777-300ERs from Swiss International Air Lines.
By comparison, Airbus has logged 111 net orders so far this year, including 25 purchases added in May.
Boeing delivered 68 commercial aircraft during May, raising the year-to-date total to 296.
