The USA is to resume CIA-operated surveillance flights to help Colombia track and force down suspected drug-smuggling aircraft, over two years after the Airbridge Denial programme was suspended after a Peruvian Cessna A-37 mistakenly shot down a missionary Cessna 185 floatplane. The USA has not reinstated surveillance assistance to Peru where the Cessna floatplane was shot down, and a missionary and her child killed, in April 2001 after a CIA operator mis-identified the aircraft as a drug flight.
