Maryland-based SR22 air taxi operator OpenAir has set up operations at the Greenville Downtown airport in South Carolina, staking a claim on the south-eastern US territory previously monopolised to a large extent by SATSair before it abruptly ceased operations on 24 October.

OpenAir president Michael Klein says the company will initially base three of its nine SR22s in Greenville as business has been "brisk" in the region over the past 30 days since SATSair closed down. OpenAir has hired SATSair's operations chief and one of the shuttered company's top pilots for the operation.
