ST Engineering has opened a new airframe MRO facility in the Chinese city of Ezhou, developed in partnership with cargo operator SF Airlines.

The facility, which will be managed by the two company’s joint venture ST Engineering Aerospace (Hubei) Aviation Services, will initially feature two hangars, with plans to add four additional hangars “as market demand grows”.

It will mainly support the MRO demands of SF Airlines, which is China’s largest freighter operator with a fleet of more than 80 Boeing freighters, including the 757F and 767F. ST Engineering also envisages the greenfield facility serving other cargo and passenger operators in the future.

The facility can handle up to four widebody or eight narrowbodies simultaneously between two hangars.

The first hangar is already operational, having inducted its first aircraft on 12 August. Construction for the second hangar is expected to be completed by the second half of 2027.

ST Engineering and SF Airlines set up the joint venture in 2023, with ST Engineering holding 60% shareholding and SF Airlines owning the remaining.
