Air India’s regional unit has issued a tender to lease ten new ATR 72-600 aircraft for a 12-year period.

Tender documents show that Alliance Air, which trades as Air India Regional, is seeking four aircraft for delivery between April and September 2016, with the remaining six aircraft to be delivered between October 2016 and March 2017.

It also requires “five commanders” - including two type-rated intstructors and one type-rated engineer - per aircraft for a period of 24 months, with the lessor to bear that cost.

Bids are due by 14:30 local time on 19 February at Alliance's New Delhi airport office.

Flightglobal’s Fleets Analyzer databases shows that Air India Regional operates five ATR 72-600s, three ATR 42-300s, and a pair of Bombardier CRJ700s.

Air India Regional operates low-cost domestic passenger services from its primary hub at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport and secondary hubs Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mumbai on a network over 20 destinations.
