Embraer has announced a new order for six of its armed A-29 Super Tucano, but declines to identify the latest customer to have committed to the type.
Listing potential applications as including "tactical and advanced training, as well as light attack and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance", the Brazilian airframer says deliveries to the undisclosed buyer will conclude during 2018.
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows a current total of 204 Super Tucanos as in active service, with 11 nations. The Brazilian air force has the largest fleet of the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-68-powered turboprop, with 92 examples in use.
Including the latest six aircraft, Fleets Analyzer shows Embraer as having a current firm order backlog for 14 A-29s, also including examples for Mali, Mauritania and Senegal, plus the US Air Force – which has acquired the type for onward delivery to Afghanistan and Lebanon.
