MAp Airports' Sydney airport has posted a 7.8% growth in passenger traffic in November, the strongest increase since February 2008.

Total passenger traffic rose 7.8% to 2.9 million from 2.69 million a year ago, says MAp.

International traffic rose 8.4% to 892,000 from 823,000, while domestic traffic grew 8% to 2 million from 1.86 million, it adds.

"We continue to see momentum in new capacity announcements with a number of new or increased services, including from Jetstar, Air New Zealand and Air Mauritius," says MAp CEO Kerrie Mather.

In Europe, passenger traffic at MAp's Copenhagen airport grew 1.1% to 1.5 million from 1.49 million, traffic at Brussels airport fell 1.5% to 1.24 million from 1.26 million, and traffic at Bristol airport decreased 4.4% to 338,000 from 353,000.
