CIT Aerospace has placed an order for 30 Boeing 737 Max 8 narrowbodies.
The New York-based lessor will take delivery of the aircraft in 2019 and 2020, says CIT Transportation Finance president Jeffrey Knittel.
The order, which has a list-price value of $3 billion, will ensure that the lessor continues to offer a modern fleet, says Knittel. CIT will have the option to convert the order to the Max 9 if it chooses, he adds. This is the first order for the 737 Max family by CIT.
The lessor is also studying the Boeing 787-10, launched yesterday at the Paris air show, says Knittel. "It is a natural extension of the family," he adds. Flightglobal's Ascend Online database shows that CIT has 10 Boeing 787-8s on order. Two have been placed with Royal Jordanian, and two with Aeroméxico.
CIT owns or finances a fleet of about 350 aircraft, of which 128 Boeing aircraft are on operating leases or financing agreements.
