The number one issue facing Asia-Pacific airlines will be discussed at the Asia Pacific Airline Training Symposium (APATS) conference today. According to event organiser, Halldale, the tremendous growth of airline fleets in Asia is causing a shortage of trained personnel to successfully and safely operate fleets in China, India and other burgeoning markets.

The conference will be divided into two separate conference streams, with today and Tuesday focusing on pilot training and day three dedicated to maintenance training issues.

The conference will start at 11.30 with a keynote address from Norman Lo, Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department director general and will be followed by session one which will look at regulatory issues. Session two, which will start at 14.00, will cover instructor selection and training with session three, beginning at 16.00 reviewing the challenges of implementing Aviation English in the industry.
