Virgin Atlantic will withdraw operations between London and Nairobi on 23 September.
The airline's chief commercial officer, Julie Southern, cites high fuel prices and increased aviation taxes in the UK as motivating the withdrawal.
Since the service launched in 2007, fuel costs have increased by over 50%, while Air Passenger Duty (APD) has risen by over 100%.
