Deccan Aviation Sri Lanka has added a second Bell 206 JetRanger to its fleet following a sharp increase in flights in response to the 26 December tsunami disaster.

Colombo-based Deccan, which began operations six months ago, has joined forces with Evergreen International Aviation to aid the relief operations, but plans to support offshore oil exploration in the region if the opportunity arises, says Deccan managing director Suren Mirchandani.

Its existing 206 is evacuating survivors and flying relief, rescue teams, diplomats and journalists to affected areas of the island.
