International Aero Engines (IAE) has asked its partner companies to prepare for increased production of the V2500 engine from next year. IAE plans to increase the rate from 250 powerplants this year to 330 in 2005 to meet increased demand for V2500-powered Airbus A320 family aircraft. The IAE partners are the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation, MTU Aero Engines, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce.

GKN Aerospace continues to advance development of its 1MW hydrogen-electric powertrain under its H2GEAR programme but progress has been slower than hoped due to issues with the supply chain for its cryogenic electric motor.
Franco-Italian airframer ATR is continuing to conduct feasibility studies for the Evo hybrid-electric evolution of its twin-turboprop airliner but is unlikely to formally launch the programme before 2025.
