Greece's Aegean Airlines is updating its Airbus A320s with economy class seats by Italian manufacturer Aviointeriors.

The carrier has selected the 'Columbus Two' lightweight seat for its 31-strong A320-family fleet. Deliveries will begin in March 2014, with the cabin reconfiguration programme due to be completed by the summer season, says Aviointeriors.

The contract volume, and whether the new seat will lead to any capacity increase, have not been disclosed.

Following an unnamed Asian airline, Aegean has become the second customer to select the seat after it was officially unveiled at the 2013 Interiors Expo in Hamburg in April, says the Latina-based manufacturer.
