Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance has won component-support contracts from Vietnam Airlines for Boeing 787s and from Gulf Air for the Bahraini carrier's Airbus fleet.

Vietnam Airlines has signed a long-term agreement covering component repairs, spare-parts pool access and logistics for an on-order 787 fleet. The Vietnamese flag carrier has ordered 19 787-9s and 787-10s, and will introduce its first Dreamliner during the summer, says AFI KLM E&M.

The MRO group has been supporting Vietnam Airlines for more than two decades and has become "a valuable ally", says the carrier's chief executive Pham Ngoc Minh.

Gulf Air has contracted the maintenance provider for access to its pool of Airbus A320-family and A330 components. The deal also includes provision of a main-base kit and engineering support for Gulf Air's plan to develop in-house repair capability for the components in question.

Flightglobal's Ascend Fleets database shows that Gulf Air operates 16 A320s, six A321s and six A330s.
