A Malindo Air Boeing 737-800 was involved in a runway excursion at Bandung Husein Sastranegara airport on 20 June.

The carrier states that the aircraft, registered 9M-LCK, was making a turn when it left the runway at around 14.25 hours local time. It was due to operate flight OD301 from Bandung to Kuala Lumpur.

The airport's military commander, Colonel Bonang Bayuaji, was quoted in a video by the Antara news agency as saying that the excursion took place at the edge of runway 29, after it was cleared to take off by air traffic control.

Images seen on social media show that the aircraft came to rest on a grassy patch next to the runway, with some damage to the wheels on the nose landing gear, but no visible signs of damage to the airframe, engines or wings.

None of the 114 passengers and eight crew members were injured following the incident, adds Malindo.

Cirium Fleets Analyzer shows that the aircraft (MSN 38318) is managed by Avolon and was delivered new to Malindo in December 2016.
