IAG chief financial officer Steve Gunning will step down next year, the European airline group said on 15 October.

He will depart after the release of the company’s full-year 2021 results, IAG states.

Gunning will depart after more than 20 years with the business

”I would like to thank Steve for the key role he has played in leading the group through the unprecedented challenges we have faced in the last 18 months and wish him well for the future,” says IAG chief executive Luis Gallego. “His efforts and achievements have enabled us to navigate the pandemic better than most in our sector and ensure we are well placed to take advantage of the enormous opportunities as travel continues to recover in the coming months.”

Gunning will be replaced by Whitbread PLC’s group finance director Nicholas Cadbury.

After more than 20 years with British Airways and IAG, Gunning says it is ”now the right time for me to seek a new challenge”.
