Central European budget carrier Wizz Air has selected UK aerospace firm Meggitt to supply wheels and brakes for the airline's Airbus A321neo fleet.

Meggitt says the carrier will become the launch customer for the assemblies, which include its 'NuCarb' carbon brake.

The company states that the new wheel is designed to "improve the performance characteristics" of the A321neo.

It has finalised the terms of an "all-encompassing" agreement which it values at more than $50 million, adding that it will commence in 2021.

Wizz Air has ordered 110 A321neos and has options on another 90. The twinjets, powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines, will be delivered to the airline from next year.
